Steady was designed to be a part of r/wetshaving's 4th Annual Shave Against Suicide, which takes place September 12th. 50% of all profits on Steady sales from 8/16-9/12 will be donated to the JED Foundation.

"Steady" isn't just a word; it's the anchor of my life and career. It's my personal mantra, a constant striving to be an unfaltering, stabilizing presence for my family, my students, and everyone I encounter. Yet, "steady" holds another vital meaning: it's the signal to recognize when I become unsteady, when I'm overwhelmed, agitated, or neglecting my own well-being. It's a powerful call to seek support and prioritize my mental health, ensuring I can truly be present for others. This core principle is so essential to me that it's permanently etched onto my right forearm.

The opportunity to create a soap for r/wetshaving's Shave Against Suicide immediately brought "Steady" to mind. Its message of self-care and mutual support feels incredibly relevant in today's world.

The "Steady" scent journey begins with peach. Peaches, like us, are inherently vulnerable and easily bruised—a reminder of how fragile our pride, relationships, and health can be. But surrounded by a strong foundation, those vulnerabilities are mitigated. This led me to build the scent with cedar and black pepper as crucial supporting elements to the peach. From these three core notes, the fragrance expands with apricot, amber, and neroli. The final result is a beautiful scent that opens with the soft sweetness of peach, then gracefully transitions into a comforting blend of spicy and woody notes, embodying the strength found in support.

Phenomenal!

As someone who’s been part of the wetshaving community for a few years now, I was immediately drawn to Steady—not just because it was created for r/wetshaving’s 4th Annual Shave Against Suicide, but also because the story behind it truly resonated with me. Mental health is something that touches all of us in different ways, and I deeply appreciate that 50% of profits from this release are going to support the JED Foundation. That alone makes this soap special, but the scent itself absolutely exceeded my expectations.

I’ll admit—I’m a total sucker for anything peach. It’s one of those notes that instantly puts a smile on my face. With Steady, the peach opening is everything I hoped for: soft, juicy, and slightly delicate, like that first bite of a perfectly ripe fruit. But what really impressed me was how the peach doesn’t stand alone. It’s supported so beautifully by the warmth of cedar and the subtle kick of black pepper. That combination transforms the peach from being just “sweet and fruity” into something more layered, comforting, and grounding.

As the shave goes on, I pick up hints of apricot and neroli adding a brightness that keeps things from getting too heavy, while the amber lingers in the background with this cozy depth. It’s a scent journey that feels both uplifting and reassuring—exactly in line with the message behind Steady.

Performance-wise, the soap lathers up wonderfully, providing the slickness and cushion I’ve come to expect from top-tier artisans. But what sets Steady apart for me isn’t just the quality of the shave—it’s the meaning carried in the name and the fragrance itself. As someone who has relied on the wetshaving ritual as a moment of calm and self-care, I can’t think of a more fitting soap to represent that practice.

In short, Steady is more than just a peach-forward scent—it’s a reminder of balance, support, and the importance of taking care of ourselves and each other. And as a peach lover, I can honestly say this one has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
